Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 4 January 2014 announced his decision not to take up the two five-bedroom duplex flats he has been alloted. 

He told the media that he has asked the government to look for smaller accommodation for him.
Since yesterday my friends, supporters have been calling me and sending messages saying I should not move into the five-bedroom flat.

So, I have decided to forego them. I am asking the government to look for smaller accommodation for me," he said at a party strategy meeting.

Asked about the attack on him for choosing a big apartment, Kejriwal said, "It is actually important. We have come to cleanse dirty politics.

Like Caesar's wife we have to be above suspicion and we have to subject ourselves to scrutiny".
Delhi government ministers are entitled to Type-6 or Type-7 bungalows with three-bedrooms.

Sheila Dikshit has since 2003 been staying at a Type-8 bungalow on 3, Motilal Nehru Marg in Lutyens Delhi.

The government on 2 January approved a Rs 1,405-crore project to track and monitor public transport and provide alarm buttons for alerting authorities. 

The project involves setting up of closed circuit television (CCTVs) and using global positioning system (GPS) to ensure safety and security of women and girls in distress.

The CCEA has approved setting up of a unified system at the national level (National Vehicle Security and Tracking System) and State level (City Command and Control Centre) for GPS tracking of location of emergency buttons in and video recording of incidents in public transport vehicles

A core group in the party is giving final touches to this campaign to be launched shortly, Smriti Z. Irani, BJP Vice President, said.
The project will be launched by BJP’s presidential candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
A core team will monitor the inputs provided from across the country and see how these could be addressed. The thinking behind such an initiative is also to get a grassroots level assessment of people’s concerns.”

Multi-Screen Media, formerly known as SET India , said that it has promoted its Chief Operation Officer N P Singh to the position of Chief Executive Officer from immediate effect.
At the same time, Man Jit Singh, the current CEO of MSM, will return to a Non-Executive Chairman role of MSM. He will relocate to Los Angeles to assume other responsibilities.
In his new role, N P Singh will report to Andy Kaplan President Worldwide Networks, Sony Pictures Television.
Meanwhile N P Singh said that he was excited about taking up the new role and look forward to making MSM the most profitable network in the business.

India has signed a credit agreement of 160 million dollar with World Bank on 2 January,Thursday  for Rajasthan Road Sector Modernisation Project (RRSMP).

On behalf of the Government of India, the agreement was signed by Nilaya Mitash, the Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs Ministry of Finance and on behalf of World Bank it was signed by Manoj Jain, the action Director, New Delhi.

Serena Williams has carried her momentum from 2013 into the new season, beating Number. 2-ranked Victoria Azarenka 6-4, 7-5 on 4 January 2014 to defend her title at the Brisbane International and set the tone for the Australian Open.

The top-ranked Williams extended her winning streak to 22 matches with the emphatic win over the reigning Australian Open champion, making it back-to-back victories over two of her main rivals.

She beat four-time major winner Maria Sharapova in straight sets in the semifinals.
Venus Williams lost the final at Auckland, New Zealand earlier Saturday to Ana Ivanovic, ending the Williams sisters’ hopes of both winning a WTA title in the same week for the first time in 15 years.
