Arvind Kejriwal is only the 2nd Chief Minister of Delhi with a
IIT (Indian Institute Of Technology) background, after his Goa counterpart Manohar Parrikar and joins a select
group of ministers, including Ajit Singh and Jairam Ramesh, whose alma mater is
the crown jewel of the country’s higher education.
A Indian Institute of Technology IIT (Indian Institute Of Technology) Khargapur,
Kejriwal studied Mechanical Engineering and he passed out
in 1989.
Parrikar passed out as a metallurgical engineer from
IIT, Mumbai.
Like Kejriwal, Ajit Singh, a computer engineer by
profession, is a B Tech from IIT (Indian Institute Of Technology) Kharagpur, while Ramesh graduated from IIT(Indian Institute Of Technology) Bombay with a B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
Nandan Nilekani, also an alumnus of IIT Bombay, is also
supposed to be planning an entry into the hurly-burly of politics during the
upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Saurabh Bharadwaj and Manish Sisodia, Kejriwal’s
ministerial colleagues, have an engineering background though not form IIT.
Veteran Hindi actor Farooq Sheikh dies
He was 65.
Farooq Sheikh was in Dubai apparently for a
concert when he suffered the heart attack on Friday night.
Sheikh made a tremendous contribution in theatre, films
and TV as well.
He started his career in Bollywood in 1973 with 'Garm Hava'.
His last film was 'Club 60' and before that he was seen
playing the role of a father to Ranbir Kapoor in 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'.
Sheikh worked with Directors like Satyajit Ray, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and
Muzaffar Ali.
He also hosted the popular Zee TV show "Jeena issi ka naam hai" in
which he interviewed many Bollywood celebrities.

Serena Williams has been named the Associated Press (AP) ‘ Female Athlete of the Year ‘ after a dominant season in which she won the U.S. Open and French Open and finished No.1 in the WTA rankings for the first time since 2009.
The honour is the 3rd time Williams has won the award, with her stellar 2002 and 2009 seasons giving her the nod over other candidates.
Only 2 women (Chris Evert, Babe Didrikson Zaharias) have won the award more times than the tennis superstar.
Egypt declared Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group
The decision came after government officials blamed the
Brotherhood for a suicide bombing at a police headquarters in north of Cairo
that killed 16 people.
Egypt’s leaders were in conflict with the movement since
July 2013, when the military deposed Mohamed Morsi as a President. Mohammed
Morsi was a former head of Muslim Brotherhood and Egypt’s first democratically
elected President.
Government has vowed to treat anyone as a terrorist,
who belongs to Muslim Brotherhood or even take part in its activities.

Muslim Brotherhood supporters were arrested on charges of belonging to a
terrorist organization.

Founded in Egypt by Hassan al-Banna in March 1928, the group spread to other Muslim countries but has its largest, or one of its largest, organizations in Egypt. It is a Sunni Islamist religious, political and social movement.
The party won almost half the seats in the 2011–12
parliamentary elections, and its candidate, Mohamed Morsi won the June 2012
presidential election.
2012 election was country’s first democratically held
elections.
After the military coup of the former President Mohamed
Morsi, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Ireland, Adli
Mansour sworned in as the interim President on 4 July 2013 to oversee early
Presidential elections of the country.
