Petrol price was today cut by Rs 1.15 a litre, the second reduction in rates in a month, while diesel prices were raised by 50 paise per litre.
The price changes announced by oil companies are excluding local sales tax or VAT and will be effective midnight tonight, oil companies announced.
Petrol price in Delhi will be cut by Rs 1.38 to Rs 71.02 per litre, while it will cost Rs 78.04 a litre in Mumbai as against Rs 79.49 currently.
The reduction comes on back of a Rs 3.05 per litre (Rs 3.66 after including VAT) cut in rates effected from October 1.

For the 22nd consecutive year at the United Nations, the United Nations General Assembly on 29 October 2013 adopted a resolution calling for an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.
One hundred and eighty-eight countries voted for the non-binding resolution and only the United States and Israel voted against the resolution.
Three countries abstained (Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia and Palau).
The US imposed the embargo on Cuba in 1960, shortly after Fidel Castro took power and seized US-owned assets on the island.

The Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh on 28 August 2013 approved about nine amendments to the bill without the final nod of the cabinet. This was done because the Union Food Ministry sought the ex-post facto approval.
In September 2013, the Parliament of India passed the food law for 67 percent of the population to have the right to subsidized food grains.
As per the law, the eligible people has the right to get 5 kilogram food grain every month at 3 rupees per kilogram of rice, 2 rupees kilogram of wheat and 1 rupee kilogram of coarse cereals as per the law.

Yugoslav First Lady's war decorations stolen
Former Yugoslavia First Lady Jovanka Broz have been stolen from a memorial complex where she was buried close to her husband Josip Broz Tito.
The Museum of Yugoslav History, which runs the memorial complex dedicated to the late communist leader, said on Wednesday that police have been informed about the disappearance. No other details were given.
Jovanka Broz’s military decorations, which she received for her role in the World War II anti-Nazi movement headed by Tito, were on display during the Saturday funeral service, which was attended by hundreds of people. It was not clear when exactly the decorations were stolen.
Tito ruled Yugoslavia until he died in 1980. The former federation broke up in ethnic warfare in the 1990s.

Imphal Airport, which belongs to Airports Authority of India (AAI), is suitable for 'C' type (Airbus 320 or 321) of aircraft operations in all-weather conditions.
It has facilities for night operations, 2,746 metre-long runway, apron to park three A-320s and an ATR-72 at a time. AAI had modified the terminal building, having an area of 6,592 sq m, to integrated terminal building.
The Biju Patnaik Airport at Bhubaneswar also belongs to AAI and is suitable for operation of Code 'D' aircraft of type Boeing 767-400.
The airport is also equipped with facilities for night operations, with a runway 2,743 metres and apron to park six aircraft and navigational aids. AAI has contracted a new domestic terminal building with all modern amenities for handling 400 arriving and 400 departing passengers.

Vodafone launches M-Pesa service in Maharashtra
Telecom services provider Vodafone India in association with ICICI Bank has launched M-Pesa, its trademarked mobile money transfer and payment service in Maharashtra.
The service, which provides customers who register for it access to financial services through their cell phones, is extended in 286 tehsils in the State through 4,080 trained authorised agents across Vodafone’s 387 exclusive retail stores.
Nearly half of these will be in rural areas where banking facilities are not easily available.
Vodafone, which already operates M-Pesa in seven African countries, and introduced it in the Indian market late last year, plans to roll it out across the country over the next 18 months, Suresh Sethi, Business Head, M-Pesa.
Through M-Pesa, customers first convert physical cash into digital money, and the mobile wallet can enable them to deposit or withdraw money, transfer it to another mobile phone or a bank account as well as for bill payments for a transaction fee.
All India Football Federation signed Agreement with Australia for its Grass-root Programme
All India Football Federation (AIFF) on 30 October 2013 signed an agreement under Australian Sports Outreach Program (ASOP) with Football Federation of Australia (FFA) to support AIFF's Grassroots Programme.
The agreement includes financial, administrative and technical support (from FFA) in the form of capacity building within the State Associations who at present are involved in the Grassroots Programme, Grassroots Courses and Grassroots Festivals.
