Pope Francis celebrated reaching 10 million followers on micro-blogging site Twitter on Sunday, a milestone in the Vatican's drive to spread the gospel through social media.
This would make the pontiff more popular than the New York Times and just behind rapper Kanye West, according to websites.
But he still has a lot of tweeting to do before he can catch up with the three most followed people on Twitter: pop stars Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, who have more than 40 million followers each.

The six-day Festival of India in Latin America on Saturday in Peruvian capital Lima.
Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, Kathak, Odissi, Chhau and Manipuri dancers came together in the presence of Vice-President Hamid Ansari and his Peruvian counterpart Marisol Espinoza at Sala Inca Auditorium. The festival will move on to Cuba on October 29.
Coordinated by the Union Ministry of Culture and involving the Sangeet Natak Academy and the Sahitya Academy, the festival seeks to capture the unity and diversity of the various dance forms.

An IT company run by Indian-Americans has been entrusted with the task of fixing the problem-plagued website for President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare reforms. on Friday announced that the Maryland-based Quality Software Services Inc (QSSI) has been entrusted with the task of fixing all the problems by late November.
Founded in 1997 by Tony Singh, QSSI over the past few years has emerged as one of the top IT companies in the healthcare sector.
QSSI is now headed by Bikram Bakshi as president and CEO. It employs over 400 people and majority of its top leadership is Indian-American.

SBI buys stake in Equifax Credit Information Services
The State Bank of India (SBI) on Sunday said that it made an investment in Equifax Credit Information Services (ECIS), an India-based credit bureau and an arm of the U.S.-based Equifax Inc.
As per the norms laid by the Credit Information Companies (Regulation) Act, 2005, no institution can buy more than 10 per cent stake in a credit bureau.
The ECIS has over 400 registered members from various banks, Non-Banking Financial Institutions and Micro Finance Institutions.
It is a joint venture between Equifax Inc of the U.S. and seven domestic financial institutions. Besides the SBI, the existing partners are the Bank of Baroda, the Union Bank of India, the Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Prime, Religare Finvest, and Sundaram Finance.
The investment we are making will be beneficial for all lenders and ultimately consumers in India,” said A. Krishna Kumar, Managing Director and Group Executive (National Banking), SBI.

BILT Open golf tournament won by professional Rahil Gangjee’s team
Pro-Am event of BILT Open golf tournament played at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort was won by professional Rahil Gangjee’s team here on Sunday.
The Pro-Am was played in team scramble format where the team’s best ball was chosen on every shot including the putting green. After the best ball was chosen all other players were to place their ball within one score card length before continuing play.
PGTI member Ashok Kumar’s team was second with a score of 55. Ashok’s team comprised of amateurs D.P. Singh, Ajay Bisaria and Deepak Yadav.
PGTI member Mithun Perera’s team finished third with a score of 57.2. Perera’s team comprised of amateurs Inderjeet Singh, Madan Lal Meena and Pankaj Sharma.

With his 10th victory of the season and 36th of his career, Vettel joined the elite club of Formula One drivers — Michael Schumacher (six world titles), Juan Manuel Fangio (five) and Alain Prost (four) — who have won four or more world titles.

Infosys introduces rotation policy for employees
Infosys has introduced an onsite rotation policy for employees and set an upper limit of 18 months on the duration that employees can stay in overseas locations when they go for client-specific work.
While TCS introduced a rotation policy in 2010, Wipro did it in late 2011, with the duration set at a maximum of two years.
Rotations are becoming the norm as onsite opportunities are declining, given the slowing demand for IT and pressure to hire locals.
IT employees have always regarded onsite opportunities in the US or Europe as one of their biggest perks.
Companies too believe it's important for employees to be part of the client's environment, because it helps them become more engaged and develop domain- and client-specific knowledge.

4000 Crore gold found at Bundelkhand
The department of mineral and mines has found a treasure trove of metals and minerals in Bundelkhand that could be worth Rs 4,000 crore according to a conservative estimate.
Bundelkhand's seven districts — Jhansi, Jalaun, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Banda, Chitrakoot and Lalitpur — could become a potential 'revenue mine' for the state. Sonbhadra in eastern Uttar Pradesh is another place where gold deposits have been found.
An estimated 140 kg of gold is present in the area that would fetch an estimated Rs 43 crore (as per gold rate Rs 3,000/10 gm) in the market. Similarly, Berwar in Lalitpur has a reserve of 87.5 kg of gold (worth Rs 26.25 crore).
The department has estimated about 50 million tonnes of glauconite sandstone (worth Rs 1,500 crore) in Chitrakoot. In Mahoba, deposits of 10 million tonnes of silica have been found (estimated worth: Rs 198 crore).

Nokia gets into the Phablet world with two 6-inch devices.
The big screen helps to bring in a third row of tiles and gives you much better screen real estate to use Microsoft Office.
The 1520 has a 20.7MP PureView camera with almost all the optical trickery of the 1020. Videos even have the advantage of four mics placed to capture directional sound.
It’s priced about $700.
The Lumia 1320 is the brighter and younger sibling of the 1520. With a 6-inch 720p display and lower camera optics, this is basically a large screen phone for a younger consumer at a much better price point; and will be available in orange, yellow, white, and black. Pricing will be around $339.

Poet of rock ' n' roll Lou Reed, dies at 71
Reed died in Southampton, New York, of an ailment related to his recent liver transplant, according to his literary agent, Andrew Wylie, who added that Reed had been in frail health for months.
Reed shared a home in Southampton with his wife and fellow musician, Laurie Anderson.
In the 1960s with Reed and the Velvets; the punk, New Wave and alternative rock movements of the 1970s, '80s and '90s were all indebted to Reed, whose songs were covered by R.E.M., Nirvana, Patti Smith and countless others.
His real break began in college. At Syracuse University, he studied under Schwartz, whom Reed would call the first "great man" he ever encountered. He credited Schwartz with making him want to become a writer and to express himself in the most concrete language possible.
Reed honored his mentor in the song "My House," recounting how he connected with the spirit of the late, mad poet through a Ouija board. "Blazing stood the proud and regal name Delmore," he sang.

IIT, IIM students can now self-attest certificate copies
Admission to IITs, IIMs or central universities need not scout for a gazetted officer anymore to get copies of their certificates attested as the HRD ministry has asked institutes under it to accept self-attested documents.
The original documents will have to be produced only at the time of admission.
Under the self-attestation method, the original documents are required to be produced at the final stage.
Some ministries and state governments have already adopted the provision of self certification of documents like marksheet, birth certificate etc by the applicants, stakeholders instead of asking for an attested copy of the documents by a gazetted officer or filing of an affidavit.
