Voices Summit in California
A rap music video, which explores the feasibility of using
rhythm as a tool for education, has brought 18-year-old Suresh Rangaswamy the
experience to be a part of Adobe Youth Voices Summit in California.
About 136 youth and educators from across the world attended
the Summit from August 13-18 where India was represented by three students.
At the summit, Suresh and other participants from across the
world were trained in soft skills, documentary and video-making for a week.
With 10 members in his team and one mentor, Suresh got to produce another
90-second video on the same theme: education through music. "This
programme helped me a lot in bringing out my creative skills," said Suresh
who thanked his school for giving him the opportunity. "I have been
working for the Adobe programme for the last five years and it has improved my
knowledge of media tools," said Suresh.
The first half of the video focuses on problems that
children face in education and the second half shows how it can be solved.
Suresh said that if the students from poor family express their interest in
education they can go a long way to achieve whatever they want from life.
However, the support of teachers and parents is needed the
most for reaching the heights.
Suresh also added that it is not only the academics which
are the ladder to success, but for the children who have no interest in studies
or who are not showing any results, music or sports can be encouraged.
