Yahoo appoints Maynard Webb as chairman

Yahoo Inc said it appointed veteran technology executive and Silicon Valley investor Maynard Webb as chairman, replacing Fred Amoroso at the company.

Yahoo, once one of the Web's most successful companies, has seen its revenue stall in recent years as consumers and advertisers favor rivals such as Google Inc and Facebook Inc.


Webb, who has served as interim chairman since April and is a former eBay Inc chief operating officer, has been a director at Yahoo since February 2012.

Dilip Trivedi is New CRPF Chief '

Senior IPS officer Dilip Trivedi has been appointed as the new chief of the country's largest paramilitary force CRPF.

Trivedi, a 1978-batch officer of Uttar Pradesh  cadre, is presently serving as the Special Director General of the BSF at its headquarters.

Trivedi has served in various positions in the state police and has also served in the Centre as ADG of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police.

The post of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) DG fell vacant on 31st July after incumbent chief Pranay Sahay retired.

Trivedi is expected to take over charge from Saturday.

The about 3-lakh personnel strong CRPF is the mainstay for anti-Naxal operations in the country and is also deployed extensively in the country to render a variety of internal security duties.

जमैका के ओलंपिक चैंपियन धावक उसैन बोल्ट ने फर्राटा दौड़ में अपना वर्चस्व कायम रखते हुए शनिवार को विश्व एथलेटिक्स चैंपियनशिप में 200 मीटर की दौड़ में भी बाजी मारी। जमैका के इस धावक ने इसके साथ ही बार की चैंपियनशिप में अपना डबल और इस स्पर्धा में अपनी हैट्रिक पूरी की। 26 वर्षीय बोल्ट ने 19.66 सेकेंड में दूरी तय करते हुए दूसरा स्वर्ण जीता। जमैका के ही वारेन वियर 19.79 सेकेंड का समय निकाल कर दूसरे और अमेरिका के कर्टिस मिचेल 20.04 सेकेंड के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर रहे।

Cincinnati Masters: Rafael Nadal edges Roger Federer 

The world's top two tennis players, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, both suffered shock defeats Friday, while Rafael Nadal stormed back to beat longtime rival Roger Federer at the Cincinnati Masters.

Number three Nadal booked a spot in the semi-finals by rallying past Federer, with the Swiss player saving four match points in a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 loss.

The pair have met a total of 31 times, with Nadal winning 21 of those.

World number one Djokovic fell 7-6 (7/5), 3-6, 7-5 to unseeded John Isner as the Serb's attempt to set another tennis record ended in defeat.

Egypt Vice President ElBaradei Resigned


Egyptian vice-president, Nobel laureate Mohamed ElBaradei, announced his resignation in a letter to the interim president on14 August .The resignation comes after scores were killed in a crackdown by security forces on loyalists of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.

Former Cricketer Kalyan Mitter Died

Former Bengal Cricketer and Coach Kalyan Mitter passed away on 16 August 2013 in Kolkata.

He was 79. Kalyan Mitter's first class career spanned from 1953 to 1969 during which he played 51 matches for Bengal and Bihar during which he scored 1698 runs and also took 50 wickets.

Kalyan Mitter was also associated with women's cricket and its development in the West Bengal.

An aggressive right-hand batsman and an off-spinner,  Kalyan Mitter coached Bengal (1992-94) and during his last season (1993-94).

Kalyan Mitter also served as a curator for Bengal in the mid-90s, and in the first season of the IPL.

He was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award by the Cricket Association of Bengal in 2011.


Ibrahim Boubacar Keita Wins Mali Presidential Election


On 12 August Former Prime Minister Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has won the Mali’s Presidential elections , after his opponent and Ex-Finance Minister Soumaïla Cisse, conceded defeat. 

He was Prime Minister of Mali from 1994 to 2000 and President of the National Assembly of Mali from 2002 to 2007. 

He founded a political party, Rally for Mali (RPM), in 2001 and he has led the party since then.

In addition to serving in the National Assembly, Keita was a member of the Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States.
