IBM buys fraud protection software maker Trusteer
Ibm has agreed to buy Trusteer, a company that helps businesses fight computer viruses and fraud.
IBM was paying close to $1 billion for Trusteer, making it the company's
second-largest acquisition of a security company after its 2006 purchase of Internet Security Systems for about $1.3 billion.
Trusteer competes with long-established security providers such as Symantec Corp, Intel Corp's McAfee division and EMC Corp's RSA security unit. Privately held competitors include FireEye, which has filed to go public, and Bromium.

India assures Bhutan of assistance in 11th 5 Year Plan
India assured Bhutan
of assistance in financing, executing and monitoring its 11th Five Year Plan in
a proficient and effective way.
Special Secretary of Development Partnership Administration
P S Raghavan and his six-member Indian delegation called on Prime Minister
Tshering Tobgay at the Gyalyong Tshokhag on Friday morning.
Raghavan assured India's assistance in financing,
executing and monitoring the 11th Five Year Plan in a proficient and effective
way.
The assurance was made when National Security Adviser
Shivshankar Menon and Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh called on Bhutan's new
Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay here last week. "We'll do everything we can
to support and provide assistance to Bhutan.
Prime Minister Tobgay thanked the delegation and said he
looked forward to successful discussions and hoped the exchanges of visits
between the two countries will continue hereafter. India earlier had assured
Bhutan of its assistance and support in addressing the economic situation.
The first round of Bhutan-lndia Development Cooperation
talks between the Royal Government of Bhutan (RGoB) and the Government of India
(GoI) are ongoing in Thimphu.
New Pension System for low income group in Assam
Swavalamban Pension Scheme for all citizens of low income group in Assam will be implemented by the government in a phased manner beginning from the Social Welfare Department for Anganwadi workers, official sources said today.
Under the scheme, a subscriber with a minimum contribution of Rs 1000 yearly will get Rs 1000 contribution from the government and the fund required for this will be provided by the central government.
The facility for investment of the pension fund of the individual subscriber would be provided by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) through different Pension Fund Managers, they said.
New Pension Scheme (NPS) is extended by the central government to all citizens from the weaker and economically disadvantaged sections with limited investment potential under the Swavalamban Scheme for those who are not covered by any other Pension Scheme.
UNICEF to conduct nationwide survey on
child trafficking
UNICEF will conduct a
nationwide survey on child trafficking in India.
Data covering the first quarter of next year is
expected to provide a baseline for addressing the problem. UNICEF India
Representative Louis Georges Arsenault today said, inadequate availability of
data is posing challenges in the fight against the scourge.
At an event in New Delhi which, for the first time, saw
Honorary Consular Corps Diplomatique, HCCD, India and UNICEF partnering
together to raise funds for programmes for children and women, Mr Arsenault
said that UNICEF is working with state governments to prevent trafficking and
exploitation of underage children.
He listed malnutrition, sanitation, providing basic
education, prevention of child marriages and child labour as the priority areas
of the world body's operations for the next five years.
The partnership began in the presence of Honorary Consul
Generals of Montenegro, Nauru and Honorary Consuls of Comoros, Tonga and the
Bahamas.
HCCD consisting of 67 members across eight cities in India through
this partnership will leverage its nationwide presence to support UNICEF
efforts.

डीपी आजाद एकमात्र ऐसे क्रिकेट कोच थे जिन्हें क्रिकेट इतिहास में पहली बार द्रोणाचार्य अवार्ड मिला था।

India inks $100mn loan agreement with
WB for Low Income Housing Finance Project
India has signed a
loan agreement of 100 million US dollar with the World Bank for its Low Income
Housing Finance Project.
The objective of the project is to provide access to
sustainable housing finance for low income households to purchase, build or
upgrade their dwellings.
The loan agreement to this efffect was signed between
the Centre and the World Bank in New Delhi yesterday.
The project also aims at reaching a higher proportion of
lower income households while maintaining portfolio quality standards.
The state-run National Housing Bank will execute this
project.
As per official estimates, there is a shortage of around
25 million low-cost dwelling units in India. Funding is a major problem as
these projects are often charged interest rates 200-300 basis points higher
than normal.
TV18 Broadcast cutt off 300 employees
TV18 Broadcast an arm of the Network18 group that runs CNN-IBN, IBN7 and CNBC-TV18 news channels among others, has laid off close to 300 employees, include senior journalists and anchors.
Among those who have been laid off include senior journalists and anchors.
The news channels—CNNIBN, IBN7 and CNBC-TV18—together employ close to 2,000.
These cannels compete with those run by Bennett, Coleman &Co, the publisher of ET and The Times of India.
