World's lightest & thinnest flexible electrical circuit

Japan's University of Tokyo professor Takao Someya unveils the world's lightest and thinnest (2 micrometers) flexible integrated circuits and touch sensor system for stress-free wearable healthcare sensors at a press conference in Tokyo on July 24, 2013.

Super-thin sensors could improve the lives of people who use artificial arms and legs, the research claims. Wrapped around arms or other body parts, they would pick up nerve signals the wearer's brain sends to the muscles when attempting to move, and pass the impulses to the limbs.

Researchers unveiling the circuit said it could be used to monitor all sorts of physical data, such as body temperature and blood pressure as well as electronic pulses from muscles or the heart.

"This can be attached to all sorts of surfaces and does not limit the movement of the person wearing it," said professor Takao Someya of his research, which was published in the journal Nature yesterday.

US FDA asks Indian drugmakers to comply or face action

US health regulator FDA says
they are finding contaminants like filth, pesticides and insect parts in drugs manufactured here, but similar problems exit in many other countries as well.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also warned of "appropriate action" against the companies who fail to implement "Good Manufacturing Practices".

At least two firms, Wockhardt and Fresenius Kabi, have received warning letters this month alone, while Hospira Healthcare India and RPG Life Sciences got such letters in May.

These warnings have been issued by FDA mostly for lapses in good manufacturing practices.

Others having faced FDA action for non-compliance with various US regulations include Ranbaxy, Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma, Cadila, Aurobindo Pharma and Glenmark.
