IIT JEE admission test 2014 ,IITs, NITs, IIITs 2014

starting 2014, there will be a single admission test for IITs, NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded government institutions.

The new admission test will be held in two phases

 – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. In addition, there will be a weight-age to the class XII performance.

The mains and advanced papers would be conducted on different dates, and would have a gap of 3-4 weeks. This, however, has not been confirmed as yet

The major shift from the earlier proposed test is that now a student aspiring for IITs would need to be in the top 20 percentile (top 20% scorers) in their respective boards, and secondly only the select top 1,50,000 would be appearing for the JEE Advanced test.

Admission to the IITs will be based on the performance in JEE Advanced. IITs will be shortlisting the top 1,50,000 students from the JEE Main examination merit list, and only these students would appear for the JEE Advanced. A merit list for the final admission to IITs will be prepared solely on the performance in this test. Students, however, would need to be in the top 20% scorers in their respective boards, to be considered for admission to the IITs.

Students seeking admission to the NITs will not have to sit for the Advanced test. FInal admission list will be prepared with 40% weight-age to Class XII board exam scores [normalized] and 60% weight-age to score in Advanced test..

JEE Main will be conducted by CBSE, while JEE Advanced by the IITs.
