E-banking involves information technology based banking. Under this I.T system, the banking services are delivered by way of a Computer-Controlled System. e-banking is defined as the automated delivery of new and traditional banking products and services directly to customers through electronic, interactive communication channels. 

E-banking includes the systems that enable financial institution customers, individuals or businesses, to access accounts, transact business, or obtain information on financial products and services through a public or private network, including the Internet.  This system does involve direct interface with the customers. The customers do not have to visit the bank's premises.

Tips  for safe banking

Keep changing your password at least once a month.
Do not share your  Online Banking password or bank machine Personal Identification Number (PIN) with anyone. Giving your password or PIN to another person or company places your finances and privacy at risk.
Most personal computers use the Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS operating systems  etc. The makers of these systems regularly issue security updates to protect against new and emerging threats.
Avoid easy-to-guess passwords, like first names, birthdays and telephone numbers. Try to have an alphanumeric password that combines alphabets and numbers.
. Avoid accessing the Internet banking channel at cyber cafes, which are prone to attacks by hackers.
Keep your operating system and browser up-to-date with the latest security patches. Install these only from a trusted web site.
Always log out when you exit the online banking portal. Install a personal firewall to help prevent hackers from gaining unauthorised access to your home computer, especially if you connect to the Internet through a cable.
Don't use the embedded links in any e-mail to get to any web page. Type the link address (URL) in your web browser.
